MUD tires, pics info and personal thoughts

I have used various tire brands on my truck, some
for a long time, some for a short time.
From the day that I bought my truck, it has been
on mud tires, It first saw a set of 33" Armstrong
Mud Terrains, after the addition of more lift it saw
a set of Kelly springfield M/t's in the 35" sizing.
I sold the kelly's to a guy who mainly street drives his truck, for the reason that I was getting
far to many flats in the back country, to avoid
this I went with a set of super tough bias ply Groundhawg 35's, nice tires after they warmed up and got rid of the flat spots. I owned these tires and used them so long that they started to weather crack
, hence for Highway and street driving I bought
a set of 35" KUMHO Radial M/T's. A decent on road tire and not bad off-road, but not on the same level
as the ground hawg off-road.
I was getting sick of fixing Dana 44's so I rebiult a set of Dana 60's for myself, very rare that I get to do truck work for myself...After being reassured that the Dana 60's would accept a set of 15x10 8 bolt wheels I bought 6 rims, and they did not fit and I was stuck with them. I found a good deal on a set of 16.5x9.75 turbine rims, so I bought them and started my Dana 60 conversion.
I was in the market for new tires and after reading
all the magazines, and their glowing praise, I chose a set of Interco Super Swamper Tsl 36x12.5x16.5... According to the mags these were an excellent tire with good handling,
excellent traction and life..BULLSHIT..I dont know
how much money the clowns that wrote those reviews got paid, or what they were inhaling, but these tires suck bigtime and I dont recommend purchasing
any TSL product...
After finally getting the place that sold me
the TSl's to realize that 32 oz of inbalance is excessive and shipping back the cursed 36's I bought
a set of 35" BFG MT's...Although not as big as I would like, these tires are one of the best tires
I have ever owned.

All tires shown and mentioned here were
personally used by me, therefore giving me the right
to evaluate the product since they were all purchased new by me and installed and balanced by qualified indivuals. If you are a retailer, distributor or manafacturer and dont like what I have to say about your product, by all means send
me a rebuttle or better yet, your product for
re-evaluation....

Denman GroundHawg Bias and Radial
The forgotten mud tire, overshadowed by the TSL,
this is one of the finest hardcore Off-road tire
on the market, The set that I owned had MANY miles on them, performed flawlessly and never experienced a puncture. I even pulled 3" nails out of the tread blocks with pliers without losing air. Once my BFG's
are gone another set of Groundhawgs will hang below my fenderwells, this time in 38" sizing.

Interco super swamper
This tire is not really worth the server space its taking on this site. I had a set of four that took
so much wieght(32oz) on each tire, my rims looked
like they had chrome beauty rings on them.
The interco rep said that only 3 of my 4 tires were
bad and that one was still good(24 oz), I declined
an offer by them to have 3 replacements shipped to me. This little transaction cost me 250 dollars in shipping charges, 280 dollars in mounting and balancing charges, 200 dollars in repairs after the post TSL experience(wheel bearings and alignment), and approximately 30 bucks in interest on my Credit card while waiting for 2 months for my refund. While a good off-road slow speed tire, you had better have a trailer to get your truck to the off-road area as highway driving is aweful with this tire.
Am I the only with a bad TSL experience, I dont think so. In the local used parts paper, there are at least 4 private ads per month of "TSL's for sale,
new, low miles", why, mine were good for the first
200 KM. They went to hell in a hand basket after that. Just the other day, my employer and I were sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left when
a Black Jeep drove by, my boss remarked"look at the wobble in that guys tires", as the jeep rumbled by,
the tire, none other than Interco Super Swampers...
